I was just drifting through life, going from one minimum wage job to another and really not making any progress. Then I enrolled at Job4Americans – and, after talking to one of the Career Counselors there, decided I wanted to work in the health field. Now, here I am working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and enjoying every minute I’m at work. Thanks, J4A!
Deidre M. (Age 25)
I started out many years ago to be an accountant but dropped out of school when our first child was born. After that, I was stuck in a “going nowhere” job that didn’t do anything more than pay the bills. Then, I heard about Job4Americans, signed up to finish my accounting training, and found a great job even before I graduated. Now, I’m doing what I always wanted to do and getting paid a lot more than before.
Miguel R. (Age 44)
I always wanted to open my own business but didn’t know a lot of the things that are required to do that. And I didn’t want to spend several years going to a regular college to get a degree in business administration. What Job4Americans did is allow me to take just the courses I needed – and to spend several months working as an intern in a similar business. Now, I have my own business and am looking forward to opening a second location within the next few months.
Jason T. (Age 31)
I was never very focused in high school and ending up dropping out about halfway through. For a while, I was able to get by working in various restaurants but I could see it was going to take forever before I got be a manager. Fortunately, my wife told me about Job4Americans and its very flexible programs and now, just two years later, I’m managing the place where I used to be a busboy!
D’wayne J. (Age 33)
When I came out of the Army, there were very few jobs available – and I ended up being unemployed for almost six months. So, I decided to take advantage of my GI benefits and train at Job4Americans to be an IT Technician – which turned out to be a great decision. Since I graduated, I’ve never had to go look for a job because people who want to hire highly-skilled IT Technicians come looking for me.
Shawanna F. (Age 29)
I was working in a factory that was really old and just barely bringing in enough money to keep ten of us working full-time. Then, someone bought the place – and announced that he was going to “automate” the place and make it a lot more productive. At first, I thought that meant I would be losing my job but, as it turns out, the new owner brought in Job4Americans to train all the staff on the new equipment. Now, we have two full shifts going – and lots of opportunity for overtime.
Brad W. (Age 50)
I had worked for the same company for more than 15 years and even though I was a “valued employee”, I still wasn’t able to get beyond a high-level clerical position. But as soon as I finished my training at Job4Americans, the company appointed me as the Assistant Director of the Human Relations Department and gave me a nice raise.
Monique (Age 46)
I started out at Job4Americans thinking I wanted to be a Certified Nursing Assistant but after just a few months, I realized that was not what I really wanted me to do. I figured I’d have to start all over again but after talking to my Career Counselor at J4A, I was able to transition over to being trained as a Pharmacy Technician – which is what I do now.
Emiliano (Age 29)
I actually graduated from a hotel management training school in another state – but was having no luck at finding a job in my field after my husband and I moved to New Jersey. But within two weeks of contacting Job4Americans’ Career Center, I had my first job interview – and two weeks after that, I was back working in the field I love.
Toni (Age 33)
I decide to start a career right after the last of my three kids moved out on their own – and I finally had some “free time” on my hands. And I wasn’t really sure what kind of options I would have because I had been out of the workplace for so long. What I really loved about my Career Counselor at Job4Americans is that he took the time to help me figure out exactly what skills I’d have to acquire for various careers – and how long it would take for me to do that. And he continued working with me throughout the time I was taking classes and helped me land my first job in the fashion industry.
